How do I wash my shirt or hoodie to keep the print looking its best?Updated an hour ago
Taking a little extra care when washing your custom shirt or hoodie goes a long way toward keeping the print vibrant and long-lasting. Here’s what we recommend.
Washing instructions
- Wash inside out. Turning the garment inside out before washing protects the print from friction against other items in the load.
- Use cold water. Hot water can break down the print over time. Always wash on a cold cycle.
- Use a gentle cycle. A delicate or gentle wash cycle reduces wear on the fabric and print.
- Avoid bleach and harsh detergents. These can fade or damage the print. Use a mild detergent.
Drying instructions
- Air dry when possible. Laying the garment flat or hanging it to air dry is the best way to preserve the print and prevent shrinkage.
- Tumble dry on low heat. If you use a dryer, keep it on the lowest heat setting. High heat is one of the most common causes of print damage.
- Do not iron directly on the print. If you need to iron the garment, turn it inside out first or use a pressing cloth over the design.
A few things to know
- Some fading over time is normal. All printed garments experience gradual fading with regular washing. Following the care instructions above will help slow that process significantly.
- Premature fading or peeling isn’t normal. If your print starts fading or peeling after just a few washes, that’s not expected. Reach out to our Support team with photos and your order number and we’ll look into it.
