Why is the camera asking for permission?Updated an hour ago
If your mem-re product includes an AR component, your camera is needed to activate the experience. Here’s what to do if the permission prompt isn’t appearing or you accidentally denied it.
Why camera access is needed
mem-re experiences that include augmented reality (AR) use your phone’s camera to overlay digital content onto your physical product. Even for QR code scanning, your camera app needs to be active and unrestricted to detect and launch the experience. Without camera access, the experience can’t load.
How to enable camera permissions
On iPhone:
- Open Settings
- Scroll down and tap Camera
- Make sure the camera toggle is enabled
- If you’re using a browser for the experience, go to Settings → Safari (or your browser of choice) → Camera and set it to Allow
On Android:
- Open Settings → Apps
- Find your browser (e.g., Chrome) or camera app
- Tap Permissions → Camera and set it to Allow
A few things to know
- Not all mem-re experiences require camera access. Some experiences go straight to an action hub and don’t use AR or require ongoing camera access after the initial QR scan.
- Your camera is only used for the experience. Camera access is used solely to power the mem-re experience — it’s not used for anything else.
